on Aging Celebrates St Patrick’s
Month /A Film Series
In celebration of St Patrick’s
Day, and the month of March, Mayor Carlo
DeMaria’s Council on Aging has planned
a month long Film Series with Irish Themes.
Please join us for some great classics.
We begin the film series on Tuesday March
6th with the 1944 Academy Award winning
film “Going My Way” starring
Bing Crosby. Join us as Fr. Chuck O’Malley,
played by Crosby , transforms parish life
at St Dominic’s in New York City.
The next film in our series will be on
Tuesday March 13th . “The Last Hurrah”.
This 1958 classic, stars Spencer Tracy
as Frank Skeffington, and “old”
Irish –American Politician running
for re-election for the last time, in
a ficticious town, that has resembles
Boston.
On Tuesday March 20th don’t miss
the light hearted movie “Finnian’s
Rainbow. This film stars Fred Astaire
as an eccentric Irishman who, with his
daughter, played by Petula Clark, moves
to a new town, Rainbow Valley. This film
has all that you would expect to see in
an “Irish” movie, including
leprechauns and a pot of gold.
We close our series on Tuesday March
27th with, “The Quiet Man”,
starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.
Wayne plays and American fighter who returns
to his native village in Ireland and finds
his true love played by O’Hara.
All films will be screened at 3pm, at
