The Human Resources department is here to establish, administer, and effectively communicate sound policies, rules and practices that treat employees with dignity and equality, while maintaining compliance with municipal governance of employment and labor laws.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for ensuring that employees are hired, compensated and managed properly and fairly, for providing assistance to other departments and the oversight of all personnel related functions.  Some of which include:

  • Developing and implementing personnel policies to maintain compliance with those rules, laws and regulations governing all employee related areas
  • Assisting in the management of employee relations matters
  • Assisting with collective bargaining, grievances and discipline situations
  • Overseeing and administering employee benefit programs
  • Advising all Departments and employees relative to hiring, career development, performance evaluation and termination of employment
  • Maintaining personnel records
  • Managing unemployment compensation, workman’s compensation, and employee assistance programs
  • Overseeing Civil Service processes
